Anchor Mixer

 

 

  • Anchor mixers are among the more common types of high-viscosity liquid mixers.
  • Anchor-shaped impellers are used for liquid viscosities between 5000 and 50,000 cP.
  • The swing diameter of the anchor is generally 90 to 95% of the mixing vessel.
  • There is low clearance between the impeller and the internal wall of the vessel.
  • Anchor impellers are preferred when heat transfer through a jacket is desired along with good mixing.
  • Scraper arrangements or wipers may be provided to remove material deposited on internal walls of the vessel, further improving the transfer of heat.
  • Anchors are commonly used in crystallization reactors.
  • Speeds range from approximately 5.5 to 45 rpm
  • Impeller diameters range from 600 to 3000 mm. An anchor impeller is shown in Fig.

  • Flat Blade Disc Turbine – The turbine is a disk-type (six-blade turbine) radial flow impeller.
  • The impeller is constructed with six vertical blades located around the external periphery of a circular disk.
  •  The diameter of the disk ranges from 66 to 75% of the internal vessel diameter.
  • A six-blade flat disc  turbine is shown in Figure
  • This  turbine is used in applications requiring high shear or turbulence.
  • The impeller design is best suited for gas–liquid contacting because of the circular disk.

High Efficiency Impeller

 

  • Hydrofoil impellers are also referred to as high-efficiency impellers since they are designed to maximize fluid flow and minimize shear rate. Since most industrial applications require high pumping capacity and less fluid shear, these impellers are popular in the majority of mixer installations.
  • Figure shows a high-solidity-ratio hydrofoil impeller used for high viscosity materials and gas applications.
  • Advances in the hydrofoil impeller designs have lead to the development of an additional family of these impellers. Figure above  illustrates the four types of these impellers with different solidity ratios, the ratio of the total blade area to a circle circumscribing the impeller.
  • Low solidity ratio impellers are efficient for liquid blending and solid suspensions.
  • Higher-solidity-ratio impellers are more effective for axial flow patterns as the viscosity increases.
  • For gas–liquid dispersions, higher-solidity-ratio impellers with wide blades provide an effective area of preventing bypass of gas through the impeller hub.

Pitched Blade Turbine

  • Pitched blade turbines are axial flow impellers used in top-entering agitators.
  • A pitched blade turbine consists of a hub on which an even number of blades are mounted at an angle of 10 to 90 degree with respect to the horizontal.
  • The most commonly used impeller of this type is the four-bladed 45 degree pitched-blade turbine.
  • The pitched-blade turbine is generally used for impeller diameters ranging from 450 mm to 3 m with connected power of up to 500 hp. It is used primarily in flow control applications. Figure  shows the commonly used 45 degree pitched-blade turbine.
  • Since the fluid discharge from a pitched-blade turbine has both axial and radial components, it is considered a mixed-flow impeller.
  • The pitched-blade turbine impeller is generally fabricated. The blades may be welded directly onto the impeller shaft or are bolted to the shaft hub.
  • The pitched blade turbine is available in up-pumping and down-pump configration depending on the application

Marine Propellers

 

  • Marine propellers are also used on side-entering mixers and are mounted with the impeller shaft inclined at an angle with respect to the vessel centerline, for improving process results.
  • The propeller is generally operated to produce down pumping action directed toward the bottom of the vessel, until deflected by the floor or the wall of the vessel.
  • The shearing action of the propeller is significant at high speeds.
  • Standard-blade marine propellers with square pitch are commonly used. Variations include four-bladed propellers, propellers with saw tooth edges for tearing action and perforated blades for shredding and breaking of lumps.
  • Speed Range – 400 – 1800 rpm (depending on diameter)
  • Speed Range – 400 – 1800 rpm (depending on diameter)
  • The power number for top-entering propellers and portable mixers in the turbulent range at a proximity factor of 1 is 0.87.
  • For side-entering mixers the power number ranges from 0.77 for propeller diameters up to 700 mm [6]. Propellers are generally manufactured by the casting process.

Our Process and Mechanical design teams can size the agitation requirements based upon the product specific gravity, viscosity and characteristics. Vacuum Drying Oven

 

The Vacuum Drying Oven is a large volume tray drying oven with double wall shelf plates for efficient heat transfer. The advantage of the tray design results in ease of product handling, minimal product wastage and ease of cleaning. Near zero maintenance in the absence of moving parts adds to its advantage.

Vibro Sifter

 

In Vibro Sifter the material to be screened is fed on to the centre of top screen. The undersize material passes rapidly though the screen during its travel to the periphery. The over size material is continuously discharged through a tangential outlet. Vibro Sifter sare equipped to handle multiple screens one on top of the other with feed trays in between to give several precise sized fractions in a single screening operation. Special designs with up to seven screens are also available for grading.

The top weight on the motor shaft rotates in a plane close to the centre of mass of the assembly. Rotation of the top eccentric weights create vibration in the horizontal plane which causes the material to move across the screen cloth to the periphery. Increasing the top eccentric mass increases the horizontal throw causing oversize material to discharge at a faster rate.

The bottom eccentric weights rotate below the centre of the vibrating mass creating tilt on the screens giving vibration in vertical and tangential planes. Increasing the vertical component of motion promotes turn over of material on the screen surface helping maximum quantity of undersize material to pass through the screen. The effective vertical motion helps in minimizing blinding of screen.

The tangential component of motion is controlled by the angle of lead given to bottom weights with relation to top weights. Variation in lead angle controls the spiral pattern of material travel over the screen cloth. Speed and Flow pattern of material travel over the screen cloth can be set by the operator for maximum through-put and screening efficiency. Typical material travel patterns generated at various lead angles are shown below.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Features

  • Greater Capacity – Gyroscreen gives greater capacity per meter square of screening area and oversize material is discharged with relatively less percentage of fines when compared to other screening machines.
  • Minimum Blinding – Gyroscreen multi-plane action limits screen blinding to an acceptable minimum. However, for material having inherent blinding characteristics, we offer anti-blinding accessories to eliminate blinding.
  • Longer Screen Life – Screen cloth is held in uniform tension on specially designed mesh frames. The tight screening surfaces vibrates rigidly without flexing of wires, greatly reducing screen wear and increasing screen life.
  • No Transmitted Vibration – No special flooring foundation is required. The Vibro Screen may be placed wherever required, like on the top of bins, on wooden floors, or light structures.
  • Minimum Space Requirement – For equivalent capacity, Vibro Screen requires less space than other screening systems. Compact units can fit right into existing Production Lines.
