Paddle Blender

The paddle agitator, which can handle brittle materials, is an alternative design to the ribbon agitator. In lieu of the ribbon flights, the paddle agitator contains both forward and reverse paddles, for movement of the material in opposing lateral directions as well as in the radial direction.

The paddle design is used where friable materials are mixed and when batches as small as 15 percent of the total capacity are mixed in the blender. The design of the ribbon is suitable for low and medium duty applications (usually free flowing materials), while the design of the paddle is suitable for heavy duty applications (wet materials, heavy metal powder). A paddle and ribbon agitator hybrid configuration can be used in some instances. Paddle blenders can be provided with high speed choppers for disintegration of lumps and agglomerates
